Joey Cool doesn’t wait for moments — he builds them.

After more than two decades of dedication to his craft, the Kansas City, MO rapper, singer, and performer has emerged as one of Strange Music’s most versatile and consistent voices. In less than a decade, Joey has delivered eight full-length solo albums, released over 100 songs, performed to packed crowds across multiple continents, and appeared on dozens of high-profile collaborations.

He left an undeniable mark on Tech N9ne’s blockbuster anthem “Face Off,” joining King Iso and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on a track that surged past half-a-billion streams and brought Joey’s name into outlets such as Variety, USA Today, and People. Along the way, he’s worked with artists ranging from Doobie and C-Mob to Lex Bratcher, continuing to sharpen his reputation as an elite lyricist with undeniable range.

Most recently, 2024’s Roller Coaster earned praise from multiple hip-hop publications, who highlighted Joey’s ability to deliver “all the twists and turns…from an elite MC at the peak of his skill.”

Now, Joey Cool steps into his most defining chapter yet with his 2026 album, Time Will Tell [Strange Music] — a cinematic, mature, and deeply personal body of work that reflects both his relentless hustle and his evolution as an artist.

“With this project I’m showing you I have other layers to me,” Joey explains. “At this point in my career, I’m going to do more, because I’m able to.”

Encouraged by Tech N9ne and Strange Music co-founder Travis O’Guin to slow down and fully expand his vision, Joey made a conscious decision to take his time on what would become his next opus.

After returning home from a successful tour of Australia and New Zealand, he hunkered down for six months — the longest stretch he had ever dedicated solely to the creative process. Drawing inspiration from films like The Harder They Fall and Sinners, Joey leaned into a bigger sonic palette.

“I knew I wanted some crazy production on there,” he reveals. “Once I began working, it started flowing. There’s more of a cinematic theme. It’s a more mature, grown-up Joey Cool.”

Audiences got their first glimpse of this evolved era through diverse releases leading into the album. “Franchise” and “Swanktified” showcase Joey operating on an elevated playing field, while he flipped the holidays upside down with the risqué Christmas banger “Yam Jam.”

Meanwhile, “You Feel It” blends jazz bounce, lush harmonies, and gratitude-driven bars into a feel-good statement of purpose.

“For me, it’s more of a vibe,” he continues. “I’ve been doing this for 20-plus years, and for whatever reason, I believe I’m at the pinnacle of my creative ability right now. So ‘You Feel It’ is almost a literal statement.”

On the explosive posse cut “Set It Off,” Joey trades verses with Tech N9ne, Rittz, King Iso, X-Raided, and Matt Phoenix in a Strange Music classic-in-the-making.

“I kept adding guests to it, and it turned into a classic Strange Music posse track,” he grins. “We referred to the beat as ‘G-Opera.’ ‘Set It Off’ was a special one for me.”

Elsewhere, “Carry On” reveals vulnerability and introspection as Joey opens up about doubt and perseverance.

“We decided to be a little more real on the track,” he admits. “I’m opening up about second-guessing and doubting myself. It’s an important song, because I’m giving you a different side of me.”

That emotional range extends even further on “This Is My Love Song,” where Joey surprises with a smoother melodic approach.

“People haven’t heard me do anything like this before,” he states. “You’re getting all of Joey Cool.”

Time Will Tell is more than an album title — it’s a mission statement. And Joey Cool’s time isn’t coming.

It’s now.
